Superior is located about 28 miles north of the town of Barstow, California (see full directions below). Click on the map to view the full size image.

Directions to Superior (SUPERIOR IS CLOSED)


  • Go to Mapquest.com.

  • Do a search with Mapquest for Barstow, CA.

  • In Barstow, get off I-15 at the Barstow Road exit. Go North on Barstow Road until it ends at East Main Street.

  • Turn Left on to East Main Street. Go about 3 blocks and turn Right on to North 1st Avenue.

  • Follow North 1st Avenue northerly. Approximately the fifth road on the Left will be Irwin Road.

  • Turn Left on to Irwin Road. The road will head northerly out of town. You should pass Fossil Bed Road on your Left.

  • About 3/4 mile past Fossil Bed Road you should be about 10 miles from I-15, the road will fork. Bear Left on to Copper City Road.

  • Follow Copper City Road, eventually passing Old Yermo Cutoff on your Right.

  • Continue Northerly on Copper City Road. In places this road is also called Randsburg-Barstow Road.

  • At about 16 miles from I-15 you will eventually pass Dobson Road and Via De La Rosa on your Right.

  • At about 26 miles from I-15 Copper City Road will make a sharp turn to the Left. Do NOT turn. Continue northerly on what is now called Indian Spring Road.

  • Travel northerly along Indian Spring Road. Approximately 2 miles beyond where you left Copper City Road, Indian Spring Road will run directly on to the Superior Dry Lake.

  • Travel from Adelanto, CA to Barstow, CA (Approx 1 hour - 40 miles - 64 km).
